  • we used to use rolled roofing on sheds and barns. I haven't used it for 10 years or more, but unless it has changed dramatically, I wouldn't put it on my home. It is much cheaper than shingles, but it is also much thinner and not as durable. Its very fast to install, but it looks very cheap (in my opinion) Go to a roofing supply store (probably even home depot or lowes) and you can probably see both.
  • rolled roofing for sheds, outbuildings, the reason being is rolled is cheaper quality and once you spring a leak?? you gotta replace the whole roll or tar it. It looks really bad once you do this. You also need to tar the seams, tar dries out, in the end it is more headache than it is worth, unless it is a small roof, like a shed. You can get quality shingles, they sell by the years they are expected to last. a 20 year is obviously cheaper than a 40 year. You can go to a lowes or home depot web site and compare prices. I would if I were you just to make sure you are getting the right deal.
