Yesterday Hannity spoke negatively of some Muslims saying they claimed to be Muslim 1st and American 2nd. How many Chistians consider themselves Christian 1st and American 2nd?

I consider my self a Disciple of God 1st and American 2nd. So bottom line if a country formed around serving Jesus Christ and God solely, I would move to that country. All rules and laws would have to adhere to that of Jesus and God. That is why I could not kill another Disciple of God, no matter what country they are from. I would expect them to do the same. If not then it would be safe to say they are not a follower of God. God & Jesus always should come first.

Yesterday Hannity proved he knows absolutely nothing about Islam? Interesting... I don't know who Hannity is, but I'm going to assume he's rather conservative.

I'm not a Christian, not a Muslim, and probably don't have much in common with Mr. Hannity. What prompted the response to your question is a semi-related thought: To me, it really doesn't matter whether someone considers themselves a Muslim or Christian or American or plumber, or in what order. What matters is whether or not they realize that these self-definitions are, at best, limited or temporary roles or modes of operation. A human being cannot get their true identity from listing the clubs they belong to, and someone who thinks these kinds of things define who they are is quite a confused person. The process of becoming an authentic human being is primarily concerned with recognizing the limitations of these kinds of concepts: seeing that "me" does not fit into any of those boxes completely and correctly, no matter how wonderful the box might be. There's always more self left over that won't go in. When someone understands that, they lose interest in defending any of the boxes to the death. That's where world peace will come from, if it ever comes.

At the core of Christian faith is the call to recognize that this world is not our home, and that must surely mean that America is not synonymous with the church. Those of us who claim Christ as our God and Savior, and are therefore in His Kingdom, are called to look beyond the man-made divisions of this world. Therefore, I am Christian 1st, Texan 2nd, and American 3rd!!
