A funny thing happened at work today. A woman from California placed an on-line order for a sound amplifier for her mother who lived in Vermont. After calling the bank to verify her billing address and to see if she had this Vermont address listed on her account (which she didn't) I sent her an email to advise her how to place a "gift order" in the best way. Today the cardholder called because she tried to place the order again on line and it wouldn't pass the "fraud filters". After I called the credit card company, the representative was worried about fraud and "locked" the account. When the card holder's husband tried to use his card, he found this out the hard way. Ultimately, she was able to get her account "unlocked" after spending a while on the phone with her credit card company. My initial email never made it to the customer because of "junk mail" filters. Her order didn't go through because of "fraud filters". Moral of the story, when you can place an order over the telephone, do it. Secondly, if you want to use your credit card and have items shipped to another address besides the billing address of the card, you better call your credit card company and put that alternate address on file with them.
