What would happen to the animals if you were to be married in a year and move out?.
-
It it is your parents home and they have a lot of kittens i think it is only right that you should discuss the puppy before you take it home.
-
Actually I believe in 2 years I will be moving out I plan on taking the dog with me. See I'm home all the time now that my boyfriend works nights a lot and I would have lots of time to give the puppy love and attention. I'm talking small dog not big, I'm talking a pomeranian.
-
REALLY bad idea. Bottom line is that it's your parents' home and they get to make the decisions on who or what comes in to join the family. Just wait until you move out to get a dog.
-
I think your asking provides it's own answer! ;-)
-
It's THEIR house. Yes - you should ask them. +5

Forgetting the cats and dog, why would you do that to your parents. It's their house, they still rule.
-
why would you do that. That would be cruel to the cats and your parents. I say grow up a bit first, get your own place and see if you can afford all of the rent, bills and other living expences before you take on the added expence of a dog. Yes - it's a bad idea
-
Yes, Puppies actualy get along quite well with cats aslong as its intruduced to them whilst its still a puppy, just dont get a fully grown dog. If you dont think your parents will like the idea then buy it for them as a christmas / birthday present this way they cant refuse it

Ok, I wouldn't just take an animal home without consulting my parents. Make sure you all sit down and discuss a breed first and whether they are the type of dog that gets along well with cats. We have had our fair share of dogs and a breed that's used to gathering animals for their trait (collies and such) haven't worked well with us, we actually had 1 that mauled 1 of our cats because it's instinct was to keep other animals in a specific area and it went over the line and killed the cat. Good luck :)

If you have the kind of parents that are easy going, well only you can answer that question. But if you are just crossing your fingers and hoping they will be happy and the odds are they will not, it is the poor puppy that will pay the price.
-
Yes, its a VERY bad idea! My daughter, 19, still lives at home, pays no rent, but even if she did, and she brought home ANY kind of animal without my permission...she'd be packing her bags... That's very disrespectful to your parents.
-
COLOSSALLY bad idea. Incredibly disrespectful to your parents. My nephew's ex-girlfriend did this and her mother told her to get rid of the dog or find another place to live. She chose the dog, and ended up sleeping on our couch for two weeks until they finally reconciled. Their relationship never fully recovered (they were both a little nuts) and now she's on her own and really messed up.

Bad idea. It is your parents home and a puppy is an enormous responsibility. It takes time to housebreak and train them. There will be accidents and likely some damage to personal property until you get the puppy's natural inclination to chew under control. It is also very important to remember the cost invlovled with owning a dog. Besides food and regular vet visits, you should have enough money set aside for any medical emergency that may arise (believe me they do and can be very expensive). Dogs also require a huge time commitment to training and regular exercise. You have to think about what would happen to the puppy if you brought it home and your parents did not warm up to the idea. What then? It is also likely that you will be finding your own home in the near future, and it can be difficult to find pet friendly housing. I am a dog nut, and think that the benefits of having this type of pet (if the owner is commited and responsible) are enormous. Please discuss things with your parents 1st, think seriously of all dog ownership entails, and research breeds that best fit your lifestyle. If you do decide a puppy is a good idea, please remember all of the wonderful dogs in shelters waiting for their forever home. Good luck!

Remember, this is their house and you are an adult. what does this mean to you? it means you are still living there because of your parents good graces for you. I would not bring a new puppy into their home without first asking. when you buy your first home, then you can bring whatever you want into it. Besides, the cats will rule, since they outnumber one puppy.

All of its a bad Idea, Starting with the 4 cats.
