Why do some people consider graffiti art?

It can be anything from a gang tag, to a meaningless scrawl, to a complex and deep artistic form of personal expression.

art is a subjective term, and like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. I consider art to be any creative/unique expression, whether painted, a photom, a play, music, dance, etc.... I personally don't mind the sight of grafitti (though I would personally never deface property), provided it is not a gang marking territory or profanity/obscenity.

It may be associated with delinquents, but you do have to have all the same skills as a real artist. Probably harder because you have a much bigger canvas.

Because some of it is totally awesome. Wasted talent because some idiot will come along and paint over it.
