  • To add to the question: It is my monitor that causes the problem, not the computer. I've confirmed this by hooking it up to different machines. I have also adjusted the monitor's settings, and that has no effect on the problem. As usual, the link isn't showing up with the question.   • Your monitor is CRT right? This is a common and unavoidable effect in CRTs, but shouldn't be strong enough to be a problem. At normal levels, it happens because it takes a while for the electron stream emitted by the electron gun to readjust it's intensity. BUT it can be worsened by bad cables also, so make sure to test another cable.
