Can I perform a clean install of Windows 7 from Vista using a Dell Windows 7 upgrade kit order? I am thinking the operating system disk will let me... anyone know for sure?

I thought a clean install meant a retail copy on a blank hard drive. If that's correct then an upgrade kit would only mean transferring those files that are missing in vista to make it windows 7.
