Actually, a little fear before making a speech is not a bad thing: it energizes the speaker and that carries over into the actual speech. Once you are up there and get started, you should be okay. It's just that darned anticipation! I've done a lot of speaking, and the nerves are natural. Once I'm underway, I start to enjoy myself. If you truly have terrible nerves or stage fright, there is a medication that can help with this, but you'd have to ask your dr. Best of luck!

I'd say exactly the same thing, Jim Beam, or a few whiskey shots. Also, being well prepared and knowing exactly what you are going to say will help ALOT. In fact, when I had to public speak, only focus on the first minute or so, make that go perfectly and tell yourself the rest will just all into place. Like you are writing an essay orally, get the thesis out and let the rest just come naturally.

Being prepared. If You are million percent sure You know everything and can predict and answer all questions, there will be no problem. If that is possible. . If not, then just be prepared to say: "I don't know." You won't get killed.

I was always nervous before giving a lecture / speech ... BUT; I was always prepared , had my notes well organized . What helped me most was not to look directly into the audience ; BUT to gaze over their heads ... seemed not to really see them ... I never accepted questions after a speech ... there was another time - place for questions . +5
