1998 Chevy tahoe has loose steering I've changed tie rods idler and pitman arms and power steering pump and the steering is still too loose should I change out the steering box? looks like a tough job

    On top of the gear box is a nut with a thraeded screw rod with a screwdriver slot in it. You loosen the nut to adjust the screw, one way tightens the gears the other loosens it. When it is tightened to your liking don,t forget to re tighten the retaining nut.Bahda- bim
    that easy.

    no, check to see if it can be adjusted first, many gearboxes have a manual adjustment.

    Before you spend money on a gear box, check the intermediate shaft. It connects the steering column to the gear box

    i would the gear box might have play in the box.i have the same thing with my 97 tahoe and that is want iam going to do
