I don't know if they ever leave your heart and mind for good... not if you really were in love. But my best advice is to sever all ties with all exes. I don't talk to my ex-girlfriends, I don't call them, I don't hang out with them, I'm not friends with them, I am completely out of their lives and they are all out of mine. It's not that I wish anything bad on them. Far from it. I wish them all the happiness in the world and I hope the best for each and every one of them. But I don't talk to any of them. Keeping distance and severing all ties allows them to move on and does the same for me. It also avoids hassles with future relationships because I am not clining to old ones and calling it friendship.
