    From US Census Bureau statistics for 2002 here: http://www.census.gov/population/www/socdemo/school/cps2002.html 3,581 18 and 19 year olds in college 3,525 20 and 21 year olds in college 6,480 total 18 and 19 year olds 7,560 total 20 and 21 year olds (#'s are in thousands) So, 50.6% of 18 to 21 year olds attend college

    what about just 20 to 22 year olds? the 18 to 19 year olds are outliers so it brings the statistic down.
