Tons of ways: They see other magicians shows, they read and research old books and material, and most importantly: they make them and be creative. There are many many many websites and resources regarding this topic, and if it is you who is interested, I'd go to a couple shows/seminars, and see if your mind doesn't completely have an overload of ideas and new things from your own imagination. as a magician, I can't stop thinking of new tricks :P the beauty of it is finding out and creating >how to do them<.
