Happiness is only a tool our brains use to goad us on to achieving goals it was designed for. It is not an end unto itself. When we are more successful than anticipated we are happy, otherwise sad. Since it is impossible to be continually favorably surprised by our accomplishments, prolonged happiness is unattainable. Try to do good at what you think should be done and happiness may follow. To pursue it directly is to lead to almost certain failure. Those that get done what they set out to do usually are the happiest.

    Become at peace with yourself.
Become at peace with the world.
    Become one with God.
