Acacia is a hardwood that's light in color, with a comparable look to its more expensive cousin, teak. The wood is grown inexpensively in countries such as Australia and Indonesia and shipped to furniture companies. It takes paint well or can be stained and left natural. Acacia outdoor furniture requires annual care. Some more refined woods such as teak and cedar have substantial amounts of oil in the wood that protects them from the harsh outdoors. Acacia lacks some of those protective oils. You may need to stain or repaint your furniture once a year.
