<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Filling a Breaker Panel
Use large capacity breakers, 20-amp circuits for workshops, the garage or electrical appliances. Dedicate one breaker to the microwave. Install 15-amp circuits for lights and power outlets. Use the formula of 15 amps equal 1,800 watts of power, and 20 amps equal 2,400 watts. Mount a 200-amp panel with 40 breakers, minimum for new construction.
On the Other: Power Needs Vary
Codes and regulations vary from state to state and internationally. There are rules about appliances sharing circuits with lights and outlets. Requirements differ per residence and by the size of a house. Add a separate electric box and breakers if you are remodeling or adding on to the home.
Bottom Line
Learn what the electrical needs are. Project what the future use might be. Run the correct size of wire to a circuit switch with proper amperage. Map and label the circuits so a circuit doesn't overload and "flip" a breaker.
