Thanks to the Internet, information sharing is no longer limited to snail mail or phone calls. The Internet has provided instant information sharing that can be performed all over the world on any day or at any time.
Email
The Internet allows you to send email to friends and family. They no longer have to wait for snail mail. They will receive your message in a matter of seconds.
FTP
FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, allows you to transfer your files via the Internet. File-sharing programs found on instant messengers use this technology. This technology is also found inside all Windows operating systems.
Facebook and MySpace
Thanks to the creators of Facebook, you can upload digital photos to share with your friends. On MySpace, you can upload videos that can be seen by your friends or anyone on the site.
Company Information Systems
With company information system designs, such as a WAN network, you can share information within your company at different locations. All you need to do is save the information to the network that can be transferred over the Internet. It can be received by employees who have clearance to access that area of the company's network.
Management Information Systems
MIS, or Management Information Systems, can be installed into a company website. These systems can update records stored in the embedded database, receive payments and ship sales to customers.
