BitComet is a free torrent application that utilizes and optimizing Bit Torrent. Bit Torrent is a popular peer-to-peer method of transferring large files over the Internet. While using BitComet, the user will have more control over how his torrents are downloaded--including tweaking for speed.
Cause
Slow download speeds can be caused by lack of seeders (other users who host the file) or poorly configured router/BitComet settings.
Identifying a Problem
Determining why a particular torrent is slow can be difficult as multiple factors contribute to torrent speeds. If other torrents download at a steady or fast speed, it may just be the tracker to the torrent itself. Using BitComet, try right-clicking the torrent and selecting "find additional trackers."
Yellow Connections
Torrents that appear "yellow" indicate that your router needs to be configured with the BitComet application to optimize results.
Multiple Torrents
Having multiple torrents active at once will slow your connection down and affect your download speeds. The faster your Internet connection, the faster you will be able to download more torrents at a reasonable speed.
Trackers
A tracker is what BitComet uses to connect users to each other to begin and maintain torrent downloads. Trackers are essentially the "hub" between the torrent and the users. Some overpopulated trackers can contribute to slow download speeds.
