  • Use the yellow pages, or Google Talent Agents near your home town. Whatever you do, stay away, far away, from sites that offer to "evaluate" your stuff for a fee. Nobody legitimate evaluates for a fee. Watch out for the sites that offer to produce high quality demos for you as well. How are they going to do that? You have to supply them with a file right? And if you have the stuff to produce a quality file, what do you need them for? If the file you produce isn't good quality, there ain't a whole lot anyone can do to make it much better. Garbage in, garbage out. If you don't have your own way of producing a quality demo, the only other way to do it is IN a professional studio. Some studios may be able to work with a half decent file and improve it, but it'll need to be a multi-track. You can create one with Audacity (a free program that many professionals use), which can be found for nothing all over the Internet. Just Google it. An agent is going to want some sort of demo from you in audio CD format with three songs at most on it. Make sure you put your BEST song first. If he doesn't like the first one, it'll get ejected and tossed, so don't go thinking, "save the best for last!" That doesn't work in the world of pros.
  • Use your computer or a simple tape recorder to make a demo of your music. Send it to an agent. Ask anyone you know who might know one or simply look on the web, in the phone book, and in industry publications and find one -- or more than one, in case you get turned down by one or two. Good luck.
