You do realize that all of your "leveling up" on Answerbag is due to other AB members giving you points? So how much of your success is due to you and how much is due to the kindness of strangers?

There is no telling but it's clear that if I wasn't here that they couldn't give me points and if I didn't participate they couldn't rate my answers or questions. So it's probably equal to both. And if I only wrote insulting things or random thoughts not having to do with anything, no one would give me points for valueless answers. We can only do our best and be generous ourselves and it all equals out. We reap what we sow.

I am in complete, utter and total awe of you. Having never been coordinated, all of that seems impossible to me. An example? For instance, I cannot move my legs and coordinate my arms and turn my head to breate simultaneously when I swim. It is either bury my head in the water and kick my way forward or my legs stay still and I pull myself with my arms and try to breathe when I can. It may sound exaggerated but it isn't. I do best just floating...I am very buoyant and don't sink. But floating in the water without sinking does not count as a physical activity or "sport", does it? :)
Avatar Firebrand Nov, 05 2009 at 02:32 PM
WEll it may not be swimming or very active but Floating is very good for relaxation of both mind and body :)

Don't people give points foor helpful answers as well? So part is the kindness, and part is the person giving valuable answers and knowledge, and getting points in return for sharing that knowledge with someone else.

Well thats true Rosie but without the interaction then there would be no points or levels so I see the 50/50 as I ask them they answer or they ask and I answer :D anyway..who cares about points hen we have some wonderful people here like yourself..
Thanks philosopher :D
You are both two GOOD reasons for my interaction :D HUGS to you both..
Happy Wednesday..
Avatar RosieGHM Jetpacker Nov, 09 2009 at 03:22 AM
Thank you CT. I certainly feel the same way about you! As you may know I'd just as soon dump points anyway because it brings out the worst in some people..they cheat and fight to "get ahead" which is ridiculous and takes away from the general camaderie of Answerbag! Happy Monday! :) ((hugs))
Avatar -- CT -- Nov, 09 2009 at 03:44 PM
Quite right Rosie..thank goodness there are some good people here..you are such a sweet lady..there's no doubt about that :D
(((((HUGS))))
Happy Monday..For Rosie and Jim :D

Thank you for the compliment Bob. We could ask brilliant questions all day long and give scintillating answers and if no one responded we'd stay at level 1 forever. Thank you for your answer my friend! :)
Avatar Bob Nov, 04 2009 at 11:34 AM
it's easy to forget that our advancement is due to others, huh? oh, +5 (all i can give, still). have a wonderful day!
Avatar RosieGHM Jetpacker Nov, 09 2009 at 03:20 AM
Exactly. Some seem to think their "success" is their own doing when in fact they are the recipients of the largesse of others. Happy Monday! :)

I think we all give each other points because we appreciate each others feelings and friendship. Which means it is a combination of us and our friends.
I like to give points for well thought out answers.

I agree with you my friend. I took a class in Logic...that was one of my two favorite classes....the other one was Philosophy. Logic is beautiful and clear and sharp and mathmatical. There is nothing "fuzzy" about it. There are rules just as there as in math. Happy Monday philosopher! :) Thank you for the compliment. I just ask the questions I'd like someone else to ask so I could answer them! :)
Avatar philosopher Nov, 09 2009 at 04:29 AM
LOL I do the same. Happy Monday Rosie. I enjoyed Philosophy class. I think that is why I enjoy your questions.
