No, thats giving them a sense of ordinary life. They're given things for free so that the idiots fall out of the cloud they've been living on when they get out and think SHIT i ruined my life.

If you're talking about paying with money I don't know how well that would work since they don't have jobs. Inmates would be crazier yet if they could pay to stay in jail/prison. They would be saying, "Pay to stay in jail/prison? F*ck that!".

I'm going to jail for my second DUI soon. I also got a fine. I didn't ask to go jail so it doesn't make sense that I should have to pay for something I don't want to do. Lots of people in jail wouldn't have money anyway so how would it work?

County jail no. Prison yes. I think there should be mandatory manual labor so they can pay for their cell and 3 meals a day. Why should we tax payers have to pay for that. I know a few people in prison. They don't do anything but watch tv, eat, sleep. Must be nice when the rest of us have to work.

i feel that if criminals paid for their jail time through fees and working then it would take a huge burden off tax payers and hard working honest citizens. why should we pay for them to get free health care, free food, free clothing, free utilities, and they get paid! how backwards is that?
