Knitting is more popular than ever! While I do not knit myself, I do follow several craft blogs that often include knitting patterns. These suggestions are based on this personal interest as well as some sites I have heard mentioned by knitting friends. One of my favorite sites is The Purl Bee. Based out of a quilting and yarn shop in New York City, their site features many beautifully photographed knitting and sewing projects. Not all patterns are free BUT the ones that are seem to be of a very high quality. You can browse by blog posts, tags, or explore their Knitting Project Journals links. If you scroll down the page a bit these can be found under that heading on the right side of the site. You can access the site here: http://www.purlbee.com/ The next site I would suggest is Knitting Pattern Central. This site includes free patterns as well as PDF tutorials for many knitting stitches and techniques. Patterns are organized into categories such as Barbie clothes, Baby, Scarves, Cowls/Neck warmers, etc. You can access it here: http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/ Another site you may find to be a useful resource is Ravelry. This is an online social networking site for knitters. You have to register for an account but after doing so you can catalog your stash of yarn, find free patterns, and talk to other knitters online. There is a screenshot tour if you would like to explore it a bit before deciding to sign up. I have not used this site personally but know two or three active knitters who use it very often and have suggested it to me before. You can access the site here: https://www.ravelry.com/account/login I hope these three sources and all the links found on their pages will give you a good jumping off point in your search for free patterns. Good Luck!
