  • If there's a high chance that something irreversible will happen...NO. Otherwise, sure..why not. Most of the time the result is...no difference.
  • I have in the past an most of the home cures have worked.
  • Yes. Much of what will work is not approved in the US so doctors cannot recommend it, so I trust my friends for their input.
  • Generally I am open to all suggestions when it comes to home treatments but I myself have to research that further before I agree to take it. I would never swallow anything blindly, not even a doctor's prescription.
  • I have done so and with results that were not good, so now, no, I do not use friends' recommendations for health matters. We are all different and what works for one person may not work for another. I do agree that Western physicians often lack knowledge of eastern health techniques. Without at least knowledge of all techniques, I think that a doctor may be at a disadvantage, as would their patient. Ultimately it is up to us, each individual to determine which is the right course of treatment for what ails us. If a person is uneducated about their health and the options for treatment, then they are ill advised, period. Good question Suby. :D
  • In the modern day and age, we all depend on latest treatments of medicine and surgery. But when everything fails then people do try out unconventional ways for treatment. The testing of modern medicines and techniques are relatively less years compared to ancient and traditional medicines which may have been used over thousands of years like Ayurveda,Unani, homeopathy,Tibetian medicines and other such remedies. Sometimes strange techniques can cure a person also. It is mostly dependent on our belief systems. Take the case of peanuts for dysentry recommended by Saibaba(Saint) to Dabholkar(Writer of Sai Satcharitra) would be contrary medicine for that ailment but it worked for that man! So it is all in the belief wherein the cure may occur!+
  • No. When I have a health problem I seek a medical professional. :) If someone recommends an over-the-counter product for something small, I might try it. But never for a health "problem"! :)
