Islam is definitely a religion, but I think it would also qualify as a way of life. Aside from the Quran, which is believed by Muslims to be the literal word of God, there are also many other writings & traditions that describe the way a person should live life as a good Muslim. So I think Islam can be described as both religion & way of life, depending upon how devout a believer is.

Islam is not just a personal religion but a complete way of living. You should also know that Islam is not a new religion but the final culmination and fulfillment of the same basic truth that ALLAH (God) revealed through all His prophets to every people.
