If it's clever and funny I don't mind at all. I'm guilty of doing it myself. It's part of my "Don't take myself and the site so seriously" campaign. But of course there are cases where the subject matter is quite serious and lightheartedness just wouldn't be appropriate. One can only hope a person has sense enough to know the difference.
-
Nope. We need diversity. It's usually funny, and I usually uprate it even if my question was totally and genuinely seeking actual information but didn't get any brain poontang. I just ignore it if it was meant to personally insult me. A lot of it is. I suck. :)

I think it should be because HE/SHE is busy searching for more point and rank. so they will just say anything that comes 2their mouth...bighabit
-
It depends. Say...What are you having for lunch? - ;-D

Sometimes other people's sense of humor might go awry. I give them the benefit of the doubt unless it's clearly offensive (racist, bigoted, etc.). +5 Ailsa
-
No if its funny or smart I like it. I rate them anyway for bothering. :)
-
I hardly ever ask questions, but like most of the other answers if it was funny I wouldn't mind, as long as I was getting some "proper" answers too. Does it annoy YOU?
-
If it was done in a spirit of playfulness and good humor, then I don't mind it. I have done that myself, but I usually try to provide a serious answer after the joke. Conversely, if the person's response contained hostile humor or or a random comment, then that's mildly annoying, because it doesn't help answer the question. Usually, I just enjoy answers that aren't constructive, but I will report spam.
-
If I was really looking for a serious answer and it was easy to tell that from the question, it wouldn't drive me nuts, but I guess I'd feel like they weren't much help. IF they can be clever on a question I didn't expect that type of answer, then I think it's fine. If it makes me laugh, I love that! I always give points to everyone that answers my questions, regardless of what they answer unless it's hurtful or damaging in some way. i might not give all 6 points for something totally unrelated, but i might if it made me laugh in a good way. Points aren't for keeping. They are for deciding which answers are helpful, or very clever. I'm willing to help them along.

Yes, I don't like it when people do that. I rate.
-
Sorry,if that person is me. Will try to be more to the Point.
-
Nah... Asking a question about your question doesn't answer your question, either, but many do. That's kinda the idea of the site. For smart alecky answers, nope. I give plenty of them, myself, and if they make me laugh, I have no problem about it. For something random that doesn't answer the question, I will simply ask them what they mean. And I give points to almost all answers to my questions, except for blatant insults or offensive answers.
-
Ummm, have I been answering too many of your questions???
-
I rate all answers on the questions I ask just to be polite, as for the smart comments I usually enjoy them and even if I don't I have more important things to worry about.
-
You better not mean me.
-
It pisses me off even when I want to answer a Q and I see 20 answers for a serious Q but there's nothing that can help that person. When something is totally stupid and nonsense I rate -1, that's most I can give now.
-
If it makes me feel bad, I won't give them points. If it is funny, I could give them points, even if it does not really answer the question. I have a quite tolerant policy by answers to my questions anyway. I would generally flag spam/offensiveness, and nonsense (but only utter nonsense - here again, I am pretty tolerant about this). I never downrate.
