Why didn't Mariano Rivera get a save in last night's world series game. He entered the game with the Yankees up only by 3 runs with one out and got the final two outs. That should be a save.

For a save you need to pitch The last three innings of a game your team wins or, come in and finish the game "with they tying run in the on deck circle" the tying run was not in the on deck circle. They were ahead 8-5

Your response was only partially correct. If you enter the game in the 9th inning with a lead of 3 runs or less and get the final outs, that is also a save. However, they may now require you pitch the entire inning where he pitched 2/3.
