I think that the reporting of violence against women is increasing due to educational efforts. Women now realize that violence against them is never acceptable and there are actions they can take to stop it. +5

Yes I do think modern culture has almost encouraged men (perhaps not so much hitting) but certainly bullying and degrading women. I see modern culture calling women whores and bitches and can't help but think it instills a level of superiority for men against women that fuels a lifestyle. I think people sometimes forget how much the media can shape a young persons actions in the real world.
