That happened with "From Dusk Till Dawn" about half way through it the whole movie changed...
Never happened to me. Horror movies, despite their sub genres, are way to predictable for the most part, to be able to confuse it with something else.
If it's horror, I'll most likely know like seven minutes into the movie.
I did the opposite, Started watching what I thought was going to be a horror film but it wasn't.
The closest situation to your question for me was "Fargo."
That false disclaimer at the beginning about it being based upon a true, non-fiction event had me confused and rather 'horrified' that the movie was making murder so comedic. I couldn't enjoy the film's humor because I thought it was all supposed to be real. I could, however, enjoy Frances McDormand's amazingly-perfect performance. :) I still liked "Fargo" but thought the disclaimer at the beginning added an unnecessary confusion to the whole thing -- something I now know the Coen Brothers tend to like to do with their films.
