I know for linux, there is wine (it runs windows programs). is there anything like this for mac?

there is also crossover mac which is wine basicaly but more user-friendly and commercial

Wine works for some applications but VMWare works for (almost) all. It runs under Windows, Mac, and Linux.

- yes but VMWare does not work at the speeds that wine works (fps on games) plus that VMWare requires a windows partition right?

- VMWare does not require a windows partition. VMWare and wine both run slower than the native OS but above 24 frames per second a game appears the same no matter how fast it runs.
