  • I have the same problem. I have both browsers I use set to not allow pop ups but I am getting them all the time. Anyone know why?
  • It popped off!
  • You realize that in order for someone to troubleshoot for you, you have to say what operating system you're using, what browser, what version, what pop-up blocker, what version, etc. Also, anything you remember about changes you may have made where the pop-up blocker worked before but not after--updating your browser, changing to a new skin, downloading a new add-on--changing your preferences, anything. Just complaining doesn't do a lot of good. I don't even know what type of OS you are using, nor can I guess out of the hundreds of browsers which one you use, what the version is, or what you're using to block pop-ups. Please, if you want help, give people the information they need in order to help you.
  • Some pop-ups make deals with pop-up blockers - to get past the blocker
  • Download SuperAntiSpyware software (free version). It will kill 99% of your pop-ups. I don't trust browsers' pop-up blockers. Run FULL scan the first time. Then you can run Quick scan later. Occasionally I have the pop-ups but not as many as you do. http://superantispyware.com/
  • My guess is because you are running IE. As long as you are running IE, anybody who knows how to program can make your computer do ANYTHING and there isn't much you can do about it. Thank you, ActiveX! Whoever thought it was a good idea to allow a browser root-access to your system was a moron. Since I do not like sharing my hard drive with the world, I don't use IE; I use Firefox. So far, the only pop-ups I've got in the last few years were ones that I specifically allowed. If the site isn't on my "whitelist", I never see the popup... and it never infects my system with code that will send my banking info to some bored hacker in Germany. IE has so many security exploits it's not funny, and if you have a pop-up blocker that fixes a few, the people who code pop-ups will find another way in. It's kind of like locking your doors and leaving your windows wide open.
