I don't see why they have to, unless their jokes are racial.
I think most of them would keep the bulk of their material, but modify it slightly for different countries, and jettison some material that is country-specific. A UK comic might have some material about a celebrity who is huge in the UK but means nothing in other countries so it make sense to drop that from their act, or make jokes about people from certain parts of their country that again would mean little to the majority abroad. They may also keep some jokes but alter them slightly by incorporating things specific to each country they visit, and some may make jokes about a country and decide that it might be wise not to repeat them when they are actually in said country.
Has humor improved or gotten worse in the past 50 years?
