I am moving into a home that is old and most likely painted with lead paint all over. My concern if for my cat. What steps should I take to prevent my cat from being poisoned?

    The danger to your pet would come from ingestion. As long as the paint is in good repair, there shouldn't be an issue. As long as there are no chips or flakes, and you aren't cutting, modifying or remodeling there is very little change of ingestion.

    Just make sure your cat doesn't chew on the wall or woodwork. If you still feel uncomfortable, you can always paint or paper the walls. Not only will this add a layer between the suspected lead paint and your family, it will seal any cracks in the enamel paints that cover it.
