I take 4 Tylenol Pm's a night to go
to sleep.I have been doing this for yrs.If i dont take them i cant sleep i just look at the night wishing i could sleep.I sleep a lot about 12 hours a night.I have tried getting up early that doesn work please help

Tylenol PM contains two ingredients: acetaminophen and diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that causes drowsiness. This is the component that puts you to sleep. It's relatively non-toxic, though at the dose you are taking, it can cause severe mouth dryness. Acetaminophen has no value as a sleep aid. On top of that, it is quite toxic and can damage your liver. For your purposes, it's expendable. Consider taking a product that contains only diphenhydramine. If you use a store-brand or no-name product, the savings can be considerable. Most of the money you are spending right now pays for the brand name, and the useless acetaminophen, neither of which helps you sleep.
