Not that I knew of. The "creeping crud" was any unknown something you had. Example if you were sick with a cold but not sure if it was the flu or not It qualified as "the creeping crud". An upset stomach also qualified, especially if it was not followed by an identifiable illness.

I thought it was the cold sore virus that mutated? in the 1980's...
