  • The phrase 'cool beans' originated in American pop culture in the late 1960s. Slang phrases at the time were often illogical. Part of the point of the phrase was the irony. Cool of course usually means 'not warm' or 'cold' but in this case the cool means the exact opposite. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cool_beans The same applies to Michael Jackson singing 'I'm bad' or someone saying 'That's really sick' which I'm told (being an old fogey) means that's great. You can always count on youngsters to make up their own phrases to deliberately confuse us oldies. As far as I'm concerned your question was 'piping hot beans'.
  • Spacecadet said it better than I could. But I do like cold beans - uncooked and hard - a few to chew on. That is cool.

  • First time I heard the phrase was in a Cheech and chong movie. Cheech: Hey man, look at this car made out of weed! Chong: Oh cool beans, man!
  • There are a few people where I work and they are over 35 and they are constantly saying "cool beans". I think I will puke if I hear it again!
