  • depends on who has the most heads, they woudl be the smartest right? ha plus i dont want a plain god, i want freaky god people will think are interesting
  • I have Vishnu in my house as well as Ganesha. I don't worship anything or anyone, I just like them. (I also like Lakshmi.)
  • neither. My daughter and I think that Ganesh would be the god we would have if we weren't Christians, just for his love of music and his cute chubby tummy.
  • Brahman, because i like the name.. kinky
  • Brahma is similar to the god I worship now -- God -- so I would worship him.
  • Durga, really. You've neglected to put any Devi on your list, which shows a serious lack of understanding of Hinduism. Also note that the idea that one would worship ONE of your list is also completely erroneous to Hinduism. Hindus do not worship/recognize a SINGLE deity. This question is like asking, "If you were Christian, would you worship the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit?"
  • Brahma... "IS 'E ALMIGHTY?? clap-clap-clap-clap AMEN!!"
  • If I were Hindu I would have to go with the creative, sleeping, blue skinned Brahma.
  • Lakshmi - Goddess of Wealth!
  • As worshipping a deity {Upasana} is concerned, it is One that you most relate to or feel comfortable with. Once you are able to like the deity, develop devotion and offer your thoughts, words & acts toward the deity, that Deity's grace will do the rest in raising you to higher levels of consciousness and as a result you will realize gradually who you are and what your purpose is. My favorite is Shiva, but I admire Vishnu the most. Both are the same, just different forms. The one that I have no doubt will help is actually "Mother Durga" who is the Shakti "Energy" personification without which any Deity is powerless.
  • I do not know enough about all the Hindu Gods to say which one of them I would identify with at this moment.
  • I would worship Vishnu. He is the "master of and beyond the past, present and future, the creator and destroyer of all existences, one who supports, sustains and governs the Universe and originates and develops all elements within.".I actually dated a Hindu guy, he worshiped Vishnu, and I learned a little bit. =)
  • According to Hindu Mythology Brahma is the creator of the world, Vishnu is the preserver of the world, Shiva is the Destroyer, They together are known as the Trinity ( not the one of the matrix fame :p ) So.. Together they are a team, and alone they can't do anything.. but, if it were not for Shiva, why would one need Vishnu, lol So keeping in view the Mythology, Brahma, should be ranked first!
  • @American Idle.... Thats the fucking best attitude due...u dont need to worship them..if u like them thats enuff... Also...each one of em..(Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Lakshmi, Durga, Ganehsa) is equal to all of them(does that make sense?) So worshipping one of em or two or more doesnt really make a difference...its like there rae oceans Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic...etc they rae diferent ...but are they really different? Same is for the Hindu Gods...each one is omnipotent and same viewed from a different angle....when you think of that spirit as the Ultimate craetor its Brahma when its the preserever its Vishnu, whens its the divinde progenetrix of the universe its Devi and so on...following same note when you think of that as the one typng this message its me...and when u think of it as reading it is you... Thing is true Hinduism is about Adwaitism ..that everything is one and smae...You, Me, Brahma, Christ, Buddha, Shit, Piss, Drinking Water, Dead Cow, bacteria, Atoms, Molecules, Strings(:)) Also some calrification about the main Gods : Brahma - Creator. Creation is born oout of Desire(to be more than one). Though initial HIndus exalted the idea...later ones thought Desire was the mother of all evil and so creation is the cause of our entry in these temporary world of pains. So creation itself is "evil." so Brahma fell from grace...and that Freudian story of his falling in love with his daughetr(the mother goddess) and his son cutting his headhim. Vishnu - Preserver. Controller. Peace-maker. Not-only omnipotent and omnipresent but THE OMNI-BEING...HE is everything and everyone. All of us ar an aspect of him. But the special ones are Avatars...that come from time to time to emancipate theis world. Though calssically their are 10 or 12 Avatars., if you are a really noble and good guy,it wont be surprising if you are considered one as well. Shiva-- The destroyer or more corrsectly the transcender. the liberator. The Ascetic who destroys the world during pralaya and gives Mokhsa to all. he is Rudra the Howling as well as Ashutosh - the easily pleased and Shnat - the peaceful. Saraswati - Consort of Brhama and Goddess of Wisdom and Speech. She is Consciousness, our very process of Knowing that we are. She is Thought. Lakshmi - Though popularly the goddess of Riches is actually the goddess of Wealth. Now define Wealth. Whateevr you define it as - money, gold coins, beauty, fame, earth, nature, humanity, our qualities, the splendid universe filled with stars and galaxies - that is Lakshmi. Without her there is no Universe. Laskhmi means Watcher- the evr watchful who looks over the Material Universe her child. If Sraswati is Thought she is Feeling. Parvati/Durga/Kali - Consort of SHiva in diferent aspects. The Goddess of Energy and Power. Parvati is the householder aspect - the one who binds the ascetic Shiva to home. Durga(meaning Unreachable) is the Power aspect...the one that protects the world and Kali is the drak terrifying aspects as the Mother of Time itself. If Sraswati is Vidya(or consciousness) she is Avidya(or anti-conscousness) either of which could mean (a) the consciousness that each of us is a separate identy or (b) all of us are in really the smae united entity. If Sraswati is Though, Lakshmi is feeling then Durga is action. Ganesha - Son of Parvati. God with a Elephant head. Ganehasa means lord of the Mass. He reperesents the triune natture of man(the DIvine, The HUman and the Animal. In Freudan terms they rae as you know Super Ego, Ego and Id.
  • Also can check this out....dated but woud help to understand the concepts http://www.boloji.com/hinduism/075.htm
  • Sleeping Blue Skinned one is Vishnu not Brhama...Brahma is the red skinned dude with 4 heads. Shiva is the blue-white one with the third eye
  • I am a Hindu. I don't do worshipping since I am an atheist. Its pretty acceptable to be an atheist and a Hindu. But if I was a theist it wouldn't matter. Those are the same gods with different names.
  • Not many Hindus actually worship Brahma... the two gods whom they usually worship as "supreme God" are Shiva and Vishnu. Those who worship Vishnu are more traditional, those who worship Shiva tend to question societal norms more (i.e., often don't support the caste system). So Shiva.
  • I think what you may mean to say is "who would you worship as supreme?" in which case you should change it around a bit. Keep Shiva. Make Vishnu Krishna and/or Vishnu because some say Krishna is in charge and others say Vishnu and still others say that they are the same thing. Get rid of Brahma because no one really worships him as supreme because his job is done for a while. Add Shakti, cuz that covers your Goddesses with just one word. You see very few Hindus just worship one God. For example, Ganesh is almost universally worshipped , yet very few worship him as Supreme (though I believe there are some). As for me... I don't know... I have a Krishna necklace. I have read the Bhagavad Gita, but I learned a lot about Hinduism from a Saivite Guru. So I'm going to go with Allah (I'm not Muslim, but I'm using it as an umbrella term for YHWH, Christ, Shiva, Krishna, and Allah Himself of course (with honorable mentions to the Holy Spirit, Shakti, the Buddha, Lao Tzu, Confucius, Zoroaster, and Muhammed (I know, the last four are not Gods))
  • well, i am a hindu, and a atheist. becuase of my family, we are very very religious. i respect all 3 gods, but the most powerful one is Vishnu. I would pray to Vishnu and get more than praying to anyother god or goddess. Vishnu is the supereme personality of godhead, and all fo the god and goddess are devotees of Vishnu. So my answer is Vishnu.
  • i am hindu. i worship all 3
  • Hindus are spoilt for choice, aren't they, from ZERO to 33 gods & all the goddesses! * According to Hinduism, there are 33 'types' of gods in the house of gods, or senate or cabinet. Many mistake the phrase '33-koty' to mean 330 million. But the Sanskrit word 'koty' means grade or status (and the word 'kotee' means 10 million). Thus there are: 1 x Indra (like the PM), 1 x Prajapati (people-lord, or the President), 12 x Aditya-s (Sun-grade gods), 11 Rudra-s (Shiva-clan gods) 8 Wasu-s (Direction-elemental gods) Making a total of 33. * My personal choice would be two: (1) The Sun, the source and sustener of life on earth, the most practical symbol closest to paganism.. (2) the 'lingum' (genital) of Shiva, which is the most practical symbol closest to atheism. REASON: Sex is essential for continuation of life for humans. Shiva-lingum is a stylized representation of BOTH male (helmet-with-foreskin-fold) and female (clitoris-ditto) genitals with common scientific embryological origin. Also most ancient cultures started 'worship' for fertility and harvest (=botanical fertility)! Nothing can be cooler & sexier for every human to worship, iff worship were necessary (it isn't, even in Hinduism, every ritual is voluntary!!)
  • Hindu way of belief saying Aham Brahmasmi. Which means God lies within you. All Gods which media put in front of you in Hindu are visualizations of God. Sun is a God means, if you want to see God in Sun which provides energy, it is also possible in Hindu. So you will see several Gods in Hindu, as it is only visyalization of oneself. God is personal to everyone. Accordign to Hindu, there is only one God.
