Maybe removing the child an educating the parent would be a better choice?

Tying a child and beating them until they bleed is NOT a spanking but a beating. The parents should be prosicuted for this action to the fullest for child endangerment and a whole list of other things. A spanking when administered correctly should be applied with great restraint and only as a teaching method for things done wrong and only to the soft part of the buttocks; never in anger. Spankings should be used for correction and not as punishment. The child should fully understand what the spanking is for and done in the privacy of the home. The child should be assured of the parents love on completion. No spanking should be done befor about age 3 because the child does not understand before then. use age as a guide, age 3...3 swats; 4...4 swats; etc. by age 10 or 12 spankings should not occure any longer. I was spanked as a child many times. looking back I most likely deserved 95% of them. I was never injured or hurt although at the time I knew I was being "killed"! My parents were always careful when I was spanked. I think I am a better man today because of corrections when I was a child. I love and respect my parents today although both are now gone.

Yes, it is. People seem to think that it's okay to assault kids. Parents like this need to have their children taken away, and their tubes forcibly tied, so that they cannot inflict themselves on any more innocent kids.

child removal and parent education is a good first response, although i'd hate to be the judge who orders the kidz back into that home, knowing that the probability is that that single effort as parent re-education wasn't effective. i've often heard of parents using canes or "switches" but never before caNS. . many of these nutty parents are imitating the parents they grew up with and who had punished them with canes or cans ... how can a caring, loving society not try to break that cycle of violence rather than executing our own revenge fantasies, however gratifying they might be to us?

This is not only a torture physically but affects the psychology of the child - it can make the child submissive in life or aggressive, depending on the childs temperament. This people should go in jail for life for ruining children's whole future life!
