Theres a letter on the desktop That I dug out of a drawer The last truce we ever came to In our adolescent war And I start to feel the fever From the warm air through the screen You come regular like seasons Shadowing my dreams And the Mississippi's mighty But it starts in Minnesota At a place that you could walk across With five steps down And I guess thats how you started Like a pinprick to my heart But at this point you rush right through me And I start to drown And there's not enough room In this world for my pain Signals cross and love gets lost And time passed makes it plain Of all my demon spirits I need you the most I'm in love with your ghost I'm in love with your ghost Dark and dangerous like a secret That gets whispered in a hush (dont tell a soul) When I wake the things I dreamt about you Last night make me blush (dont tell a soul) And you kiss me like a lover Then you sting me like a viper I go follow to the river Play your memory like a piper And I feel it like a sickness How this love is killing me I'd walk into the fingers Of your fire willingly And dance the edge of sanity I've never been this close I'm in love with your ghost Unknowing captor You never know how much you Pierce my spirit But I cant touch you Can you hear it A cry to be free Oh I'm forever under lock and key As you pass through me Now I see your face before me I would launch a thousand ships To bring your heart back to my island As the sand beneath me slips As I burn up in your presence And I know now how it feels To be weakened like Achilles With you always at my heels This bitter pill I swallow Is the silence that I keep It poisons me I can't swim free The river is too deep Though I'm baptized by your touch I am no worse than most In love with your ghost You are shadowing my dreams (in love with your ghost) (in love with your ghost) (in love with your ghost) "Ghost" -- Indigo Girls

Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made, Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade, To write the love of God above, Would drain the ocean dry. Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky. - Frederick M. Lehman,

Here are some of my favorite parts of songs that I find meaningful: "There's no poetry between us" Said the paper to the pen Something's burning in the attic That her tongue will not defend Through the arc of conversation Past the teeth behind the smile If your clothes are getting weary And your soul's gone out of style Paint your eyes and hide the tatters What's the matter baby? You were always such a pretty girl Could we go downtown To the middle of the world? "But there's no poetry between us" Said the paper to the pen "And I get nothing for my trouble But the ink beneath my skin" (Gary Jules -"No Poetry") ------------------------------------------- The lights go out and I can't be saved Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees Oh I beg, I beg and plead Come out of things unsaid Shoot an apple off my head A trouble that cant be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed Confusion never stops Closing walls and ticking clocks Gonna come back and take you home I could not stop that you now know Come out upon my seas, Cursed missed opportunities Am I a part of the cure Or am I part of the disease?? (Coldplay- "clocks") ------------------------------------------- Burn it down Until the embers smoke on the ground And start new when your heart is an empty room With walls of the deepest blue And all you see Is where else you could be When you're at home And out on the street Are so many possibilities To not be alone Flames and smoke Climbed out of every window And disappeared With everything that you held dear But you shed not a single tear For the things that you didn't need Because you knew you were finally free (Death Cab for Cutie- "Your Heart is an Empty Room")

You can't always get what you want And if you try sometime you find You get what you need ... The Rolling Stones This is a very important lesson that everyone must learn at some time in their lives. You do not always get what you want, you do not even always get what you need. Sometimes you do, sometimes you do not. Many of us, when we are young, have grand aspirations and are let down and upset when we do not have them met. We say... 'it is not fair'. 'Fair' is what the State puts on once a year. We do not always get what we need and we had best become accustomed to it.

Many answers for me at different times but lately: " And I hear what you're saying, but I just can't make a sound You tell me that that you need me, then you go and cut me down, But wait You tell me that you're sorry, didn't think I'd turn around and say, ' It's too late to apologize ( it's too late ) ' I said, ' It's too late to apologize. ' " [ The song is " Apologize " by One Republic and I guess it's not so profound but it surely says it like it is! ]
