  • I was just going to ask a question similar to this. Absolutely. If I was Muslim I would be jealous of their freedom, can wear what they want, speak what they want, love who they want e.t.c.
  • Many Muslim women are not jealous, they believe in their tradition and religion and actually think that their status in society is normal and right. However, the ones who are jealous are jealous because non-muslim women have the same rights as men and much more freedom. Being a women in an Islamic country is very hard because they are oppressed and have little rights. If they are unlucky and get abused, they cannot even sue the husband/relatives..
  • Yeah. They'd really have to buy into the whole religious deal *not* to feel really cheated outta great parts of life. Big-time bummer. But I'm sure most aren't overwhelmingly "jealous". I mean, what sense is there in jealousy? ;-)
  • This is news to me. I would think foreign women would absolutely revolt muslim women so there would nothing about which to be jealous.
  • I imagine a great many Muslim women are far from jealous of women who see themselves as having more freedom. In fact they may even pity them. A Muslim upbringing would produce an entirely different mindset than a secular upbringing.
  • I cannot imagine. Based on the little I've observed & read - I would not trade places ever. Even modern, professional Muslim women in the US never smile or laugh, it seems. As a product of the western world, I cannot conceive of being perceived as less-than-a-man - in law & within religious beliefs and personal life choices.
  • That's a massive generalisation, isn't it?
  • Its because they get to show off their boobs without their husbands beating them with a cattle prod
  • Unkind.
  • maybe because they know that most western women don't have to put up the the bullsh*t they get from islam. . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing#Honor_suicides
  • what type of muslim? based on what ethnic background - so we better know what you mean by "foreign" as a muslim, i don't find myself jealous of others honestly i have all the freedom i need i have my car and drive where i need when i need to i have my friends and see them when i want where i want i have my morals and use them as i want and i have my rights to be exercised when i please as well so exactly what "freedom" are we referring to?
  • Unfounded theories make no sense. This is an unfounded theory.
  • The beautiful Muslim girls I met in Marseille were certainly not envious of the other French women. Quite the opposite. Are you having trouble with stereotypes?
  • Maybe it's because many of them have been raised to be ashamed of their "inferior" (non-male) female body, and disgusted to think of showing it off. All that self-loathing may lead them to resent other women.
