  • I never laugh at things that are setups at the expense of other people. The kind of humor I enjoy best is gentle, subtle, witty and self-deprecating. :)
  • No. I have a more highly developed sense of humor.
  • It makes me sick.
  • It was necessary in the movie Gran Turino.
  • I think there is humour in everything - if people weren't so busy being politically correct all the time it might make life easier for everyone. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone racism or bigotry but if something is said in fun, a play on words maybe, I will either laugh or not but I won't stop to think about whether I "should" laugh!
  • Yes I do, Im not afraid to say it either. Mind you not just at those different from myself either. I am also able to laugh at the jokes aimed at my particular race as well. Lets face it some sterio types are funny as heck. Like black people loving watermelon, I mean thats just a rediculous statement, I dont know anyone of any race that doesnt like watermelon. If we cant laugh at ourselves our similarities and differences, then what are we doing? Burying things under the carpet? Pretending they dont exist, to me thats far more racist then poking a little fun, atleast were talking about it then.
  • You know if we cannot laugh at ourselves what can we laugh at? What is humor misused? I am sure everyone has a slightly different idea of just what that is. I am a former Catholic and there are quite a few good Catholic jokes. So, if I tell a Catholic joke as a current or former Catholic and someone else laughs too are they a bigot? I am Irish as well...so does that mean I can tell Irish jokes and laugh? If the Japanese person standing next to me laughs is she a racist? People seem so quick to take offense these days it makes me wonder...what are they afraid of? Is it the joke, the teller, their discomfort with they own inner racism or bigotry they are hiding...lots of questions here.
  • humor misused never makes me laugh...if it's misused, it's not funny. I think the real question is what is a misuse of humor.
  • If the person cracking the joke is insensitive to who is around them, that is NOT funny. It hurts me, too. Otherwise, if it's funny I laugh. I don't care if it's at MY expense, even! Funny is funny. Life was meant to be lived! :) +5
  • I call the person out as a bigot. Then I say, "I suppose you sit in the first row in church too".
  • i see it the other way.i think racists use humor to hide their agenda.when nazi skinheads recruit younger kids they start with jokes.then ramp up the hatred till the kids "see it" the skinheads way.
  • Yup. Including those about my ancestry. Funny is funny.
  • yup, loves me some racial humour :3
  • No, it makes me realize the level of racism and bigotry that is still living amongst us in ways that a lot of people think are acceptable such as jokes.
