It's a puppy thing. They're worse than kids but you get to leave them home alone, ha ha. Get a basket or something & fill w/ dog toys. If you have an old pair of tennis shoes that you need to throw out, use those, an old sock tied into a knot in the middle, tennis ball, etc.... Just like kids are attracted way more to a toy box filled w/ toys rather than one lone toy on the table, so are puppies. They grow out of it but I swear I'll never get a puppy again. I'll always have a dog but I'll be rescuing young housebroken ones for the rest of my life, ha ha!

Crate him while you're out of the house and when you're home keep a close eye on him and don't leave things out that he can get into. And I've heard it said that you shouldn't give a dog even old shoes to chew because it will teach them that chewing shoes is okay and they may end up chewing your good ones.
