It's pretty easy because there are so many news outlets out there competing with one another. Whichever media outlet gets the information wants to be the first one to get it out before getting beaten to the punch by some blogger.

Too easy. It seems like they're in such a hurry to get the news out there that they don't even bother to confirm it first.

Up until lately they fell for it every time. Lately, they seem to be catching on. Just make sure it doesn't involve children and you might be ok.

way too easy.... the media will always want a good story and if one is willing to play on the emotions of the massses the media will eat it up ...just like the balloon hoax ...and another example here in australia was when clare werbeloff lied to a news reporter, and took him for a ride by "acting dumb", playing a fool and appearing to be racist. lol. later she apologised but the incident made her rich and even got a phrase attached to her name ...chk chk BOOM! lol
