Evangelista Torricelli, an Italian physicist, discovered the principal measurement of recording pressures in the human eye. It's medically believed that the normal ranges of mercury in the human eye should fall between 10mm to 21mm. High eye pressure, or ocular hypertension, occurs beyond 22mm of mercury.
