  • I'd assume it's because MS Windows acts as a "Window to your computer."
  • My interpretation is that it is a revolution to computers, a portal to discovery a Window. William Gates probably knew this windows OS was going to prospore so maybe thats why it's called windows.
  • Because its a window to the world, you have access to things outside your town, house, room etc.
  • Windows is one of the first computer models that were made (MS), and at that time they were a new window of opportunity. Also as you probably know the windows logo is made up of 4 different sized windows, and each is a different color but the background behind the window is the same, naming the system Windows was to show that this new system would allow for multiple views into the world. I hope this helped.
  • I'm sure you've noticed that the world of computers is overloaded with acronyms, abbreviations and jargon. When Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) first came into existence people were searching around for a suitable acronym and one that was used was WIMP, which stood for (if memory serves me right) Windows, icons, mouse and pointer. This is the origin of calling them windows. The name seems quite accurate when you consider that they are often divided into panes (Windows Explorer, Outlook Express, etc).
  • because you can see outside the window more info & things you cannot see if you are inside the house...technology/more knowledge
  • Windows crash very easily.
