Question

Help answer this question below.

Are there some things you refuse to do, totally alone? Like for instance, watch a movie in a theater, go roller skating or bowling, attend SCA Festivals or amusement parks? (I won't do any of those things by myself. They're no fun at all, alone.)

I do not eat at "fine dining" restaurants alone. (Fast food OK). I also will not go to amusement parks alone. I hate going to the spa alone. I wont go to the gym alone. I need the encouragement and competition and a friend who doesn't laugh at the way I run, or how few weights I can lift.

Going to weddings, engagements and social events when you would normally take a partner etc., I was married once, but you can't help feeling a bit of a loser cause your single!

I call it being picky or being cautious!

Over the last three years I have found very few things are much fun when you do them alone.

I certainly would not walk into a Bar alone or a party

There are many things I do not do any more.

I hate going to the movies alone, although I will do it.

I refuse to go to festivals alone, they are best when shared with someone.

While I find things like movies and amusement parks are more fun with others, I have no issue going alone if no friends are available.

Except for playing Chess or Cards I prefer to go it alone in most of my activities.
I don't care too much for entertainment these days. I consider introspection the most serious activity that everyone must indulge in after age 55.
These days I prefer solitude most of the time. I can sit by the river for hours immersed in thought, for instance.

Answerbag helps me introspect as I get to see a lot of questions that makes self-analysis as a serious pursuit possible.

Play Tennis, Badminton or Ping Pong.
As for tennis, I know I could hit the ball up against a wall, but that wouldn't be tennis, would it. It would be a good ol' game of "Hit a ball up against a wall with a tennis racket."

I never go out at night alone
Never go to a restaurant alone...takeout is better

Before Jim and I met I would regularly do the following all alone and had a very good time

    Go to a bookstore
    Go to the library
    Go to a mall
Go to a matinee (cheaper then and in the daytime)
    Go grocery shopping

I've always had a good time by myself. That's good because I was alone for 20 years and I would have been one sad cookie cooped up in my apartment for that length of time! :)

I would never contemplate going into a bar on my own. I would feel extremely vulnerable.

Wow, after reading all these comments I'm feeling extremely independent. Or a loner...NO, I have lots of friends but if I feel like doing something I'll just go do it. From the list in the questions, I only wouldn't go to a nice place to eat by myself or definitely not to an amusement park. I have no problem going to movies, theaters, parties, weddings, festivals, etc by myself. Probably wouldn't GO to the bar by myself just so if someone is hitting on me and I don't like it can say I gotta go catch my friends, but i don't mind chillin out without them for a little bit if we get separated.

I haven't developed the courage to go eat at a restaurant alone. I'd rather bring it home and eat by myself.
