My piercing has like little red bumps that are really itchy around the piercing and in my belly button. Is that normal or should I get it checked out?

Sounds like you got a skin infection or are allergic to something on the metal or ?? Best see a doctor before it gets worse. I would not self treat it personally. It could just make it worse.

Its called contact dermatitis, its an allergic reaction to the metal in the belly button ring,I myself can't wear any cheap jewelry in my ears, it has to be 24 karat or at least sterling silver, I get the same kind of reaction you do except on my ear lobes, little red tiny water filled pimples/blisters that itch.Try some Benadryl or cortisone cream,it will relieve the itching, in the meantime, if the ring is cosmetic jewelry, switch to 14 karat or sterling silver, there is a less chance that you will have an adverse reaction to this kind of metal,I plan on getting mine done at some point, but I plan making sure I buy only real gold or silver. Good luck hun :)

No, that's not normal, and it should definitely be checked out.

    G'day Anonymous,

    Thank you for your question.

It could either be an infection or an allergic reaction to the jewellery. It could also be a reaction to your clothing as you shouldn't wear jeans, pantyhose, leotards or tight clothing while the piercing is healing which can take four months to a year. I would see a doctor.

I have attached sources for your reference.
