  • Yes, Had and old landlord that sued me successfully for back rent without me even knowing about it. When doing a credit report check I saw something on there that made no sense whatsoever. When I called to inquire about it, turned out it was a collection agency. They said they've been looking for me for 5 yrs. HUH!? I still lived in the same little town of 14,000, worked at the same job, and had plenty of creditors, ie: Utility companies, rent being paid, car payments, for them to find me sooner if they wanted to. When I told them they were crazy and I didn't live there then, they still attached my wages. So, I had to counter sue the old landlord, and I mean old (I think she was starting to suffer from Alzheimer's), In order to get my money back. All I did was show the judge I had moved and everything got straitened out. I will never rent a place again without a signed rental agreement, and without sending a notice that I'm moving without it being sent certified mail. Her kids ultimately found the letter I sent to tell their mom I was moving and apologized. Too bad that didn't happen before she sued me for back rent.
