  • They're undoubtedly responsible for SOME mutations by changing a nucleotide base in DNA. But not all mutations are caused by ionizing radiation & not all ionizing radiation is cosmic rays. Cosmic rays are also implicated in causing occasional flipped bits in computer memories, which can corrupt a file or even crash the system.
