Consult, confront or let it slide? Which one do you use when you have to deal with a difficult person?

i usually confront. i try to be very diplomatic about it...but if i feel there is a situation that needs to be addressed, i address it. i'm not so concerned with conflict. i can handle it. if the other is disappointed, mad or difficult...i consider that to be their process and i am okay with not making everyone happy.

I usually let it slide once or twince then I confront. When the difficult person runs and tells like a twelve-year-old, he/she omits my previous cooperation.
