I dont know what state you're in but I dont think it matters. When you work, you get paid. Simple as that. No ifs, ands, or buts. This is illegal. Maybe someone should get hurt during this half hour. Then your company is in deep shit because not only are you working, but you're supposedly not getting paid for it. You could probably sue the shit out of this company and get PAID!!! You just need some proof. So if they have security cameras, and you can be seen working and have proof that you have not gotten paid for this half hour over a period of time..get yourself a lawyer. Everywhere I worked, if I clocked out, I was not allowed to work AT ALL. If something happens to you and your working off the clock, you could present a lawsuit. So yea, you need to definatley talk to a lawyer.

I'm not an attorney, but you and your co-workers need one, IMHO. People should be paid for every hour they are working for the company. Don't let them "get by" with NOT paying you what you deserve. See an attorney who specializes in Labor Law, and Good Luck! +5

depends what contract you signed, and if you wish to complain you must first approach your employer before anyone else

I don't know if it's legal, but if I were only getting paid until 10:30, I would only be working until 10:30.

As others have said, you MUST be paid for ALL hours worked. Straight time if it's straight time and OT if it's OT. This includes time for opening and closing, counting the till, dressing and undressing.
