i've never given blood before- i only had it tested for a paper to hand in for school. if my blood is clean, almost anyone can have it. (O+)

yea they charged me when they gave it to me like 3000 dollars, but wouldn't pay me when i sent them a bill when i gave em some.

Why would you be? I give blood, it's not an inconvenience to me and it saves lives. I honestly can't see what the problem would be.

I'm not against it, but I don't do it. I have done it and passed out and was sick. I also was not very impressed with the cleanliness of the operation. Admittedly, it was a traveling blood bank but I was less than impressed.

I've bled over a gallon over my lifetime. It might be the only significant thing I've done in my life.....God, I hope not.

Not only am I a strong supporter of it, I talked 36 people into giving in the last office I ever worked. It was a call center (boiler room). +5

I will GIVE MY BLOOD to anyone who needs it - but I will NOT DONATE BLOOD to somebody who is going to sell it to somebody for a profit. I think it's sick to make a profit on "the gift of life"...they can charge a handling fee and get back their costs yes - but to PROFIT from the deal is to me a rather sick thing to do - and I will have no part in it.

Why would you be against giving blood. We make it so easy. Surely you must see that it helps other people? You may depend on someone elses blood one day. I really hope you have the strength to refuse it.

I am definitely /for/ giving blood. It is a way in which you can help others a great deal at small cost to yourself. The only reason I can see against it is some symbolic associations of blood which I simply do not stand. Blood is a working fluid in the body, like oil in the car. The body's automatic mechanisms top it up when depleted, so the cost to a healthy person of giving blood is negligible.

I like giving blood. I have a negative. fifteen percent of the population have a negative. it isnt rare. but it is appreciated.

I give regularly, althiough I am not very happy about The American Red Cross as the chief supplier.
